Hands-On Experience
Every year during the annual meeting of the American Association of Physical Anthropologists, the Dental Anthropology Association holds a hands-on workshop. These workshops allow students and professionals to engage in current methods in the field.
Upcoming workshop: WEDNESDAY MARCH 20
1:00 - 5:00 pm PDT
Perikymata Imaging Using Conventional Microscopy
Location: Gold II, JW Marriott LA Live (Los Angeles, CA)
Evaluating perikymata spacing is a common method used to measure episodes of enamel growth disruption during childhood as an alternate to recording LEH. Traditional imaging techniques rely on specialized microscopes that can limit data collection. This workshop will introduce researchers of all levels to an imaging method that is comparatively cost effective and feasible for use when traveling to collections.
During this hands-on workshop, participants will focus on:
- imaging perikymata, creating photomontages, measuring perikymata from photomontages
